NARRAGANSETT – There is no room for error for the Narragansett girls tennis team.
With two matches left, the Mariners know what they need to do to extend their season – it’s win or go home.
“The girls know the pressure is on them,” Narragansett coach Russ Wyatt said by phone Wednesday night. “They knew (Tuesday) was a must win over Scituate and they pulled it out. We’re heading into next week with our last tow matches and Tuesday is a must win for us against Westerly.”
With one week left in the Division II season, the Mariners are 4-7 with a match Tuesday at Westerly and the finale next Thursday at Cranston West.
While three teams are locked in from II-North – Moses Brown (10-0), Cumberland (9-1) and Smithfield (8-3) - the top two spots from II-South – Toll Gate (7-3) and Cranston West (6-4) – sit comfortably with two matches left, the Mariners and Bulldogs will fight it out for the final spot.
