SOUTH KINGSTOWN — It was less than a week ago when South Kingstown High freshman forward Emily McClarnon showed glimpses of the type of player she will be in the future. Against the best team in the state – La Salle – McClarnon showed an excellent first touch and the intelligence to be in the right position to score a goal in the box
Apparently the future was Monday night against a Portsmouth High team that was regionally ranked at the beginning of the season. McClarnon scored three goals in the first half and she put the game away three minutes into the second half with her fourth goal of the Division I crossover game to lift the I-South leaders to a 5-1 win over the Patriots.
