NORTH KINGSTOWN — A North Kingstown man and father of three was killed in a single-car accident late Sunday night on Camp Avenue.
Russell A. Glawson, 45, of 302 Shore Acres Ave., was pronounced dead at Kent County Hospital after being partially ejected from his truck.

At 11:27 p.m. on Oct. 19, North Kingstown police responded to a reported accident in the area of 271 Camp Ave.

When they arrived, police found Glawson’s overturned pick-up truck resting on the driver’s side door. Glawson, who was the truck’s only occupant, was trapped under part of the truck.

North Kingstown fire and rescue personnel worked to free Glawson from the wreck and transported him to Kent County Hospital, where he later died.

“He was heading home and it’s believed that he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. We’re still investigating how the accident happened, whether he fell asleep or had a medical condition,” Police Chief Edward Charboneau said.

On Monday, police said the initial investigation indicated Glawson was driving east on Camp Avenue at a high rate of speed. When his vehicle entered a curve in the area of 271 Camp Ave., his truck drifted off the south side of the road and struck a tree. The vehicle then overturned on the driver’s side, pinning Glawson beneath it.

The North Kingstown Police accident reconstruction team is still investigating the case.

Police said follow-up interviews, scene analysis and final diagrams were in progress and should be completed soon.
