URI and DEM partner up to establish the Rhode Island Marine Fisheries Institute

DEM Director Janet Coit and Congressman Jim Langevin joined URI and DEM officials during the establishment of the Rhode Island Marine Fisheries Institute on Monday at the Bay Campus.

NARRAGANSETT – The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and the University of Rhode Island announced the establishment of the Rhode Island Marine Fisheries Institute on Monday.

The institute (RIMFI) is a new partnership aimed at coordinating marine fisheries science, research, and educational activities of priority importance in Rhode Island.

Representatives from Rhode Island’s Congressional delegation, including Congressman Jim Langevin, joined URI and DEM officials at the Bay Campus Monday for the signing of the partnership agreement.
