United Water rate increase will be smaller

April 17, 2014

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - The Rhode Island Division of Public Utilities and Carriers (PUC), the town of South Kingstown, the Union Fire District and United Water are in support of a settlement agreement that would decrease United Water’s proposed rate increase from 42.6 percent to 32.83 percent.

The original 43 percent increase would have resulted in an increase of $10.30 per month for a typical residential customer. The agreed rates would allow United Water to collect an additional $1.2 million in revenue, down from the projected nearly $1.6 million.
