Two men arrested for growing marijuana

HOPKINTON — Proceeding from separate investigations, police arrested two town residents for possession of marijuana plants.

On September 19, 2013, police charged Gene Zeldin, 39, of 24 Colonial Village Road and 32 Shore Drive, Charlestown, with two counts manufacturing/cultivation of marijuana (one count from each town of Zeldin's residences). Police searched Zeldin's Hopkinton residence and found about 60 marijuana plants, most of which were mature. While searching Zeldin's Charlestown residence, police found approximately 130 marijuana plants, most of which were vegetative. Police seized the 190 marijuana plants, a generator, other growing equipment and approximately $1,200 in cash.

Zeldin was arraigned in the Fourth District Court in front of Judge Woodcock-Pfeiffer and released on $10,000 personal recognizance with a felony screening date of October 29, 2013.
