WYOMING - Back when consignment shopping became the trendy thing to do, I jumped on the bandwagon with everyone else. But I noticed that, over time, most stores raised their prices to the point where it made more sense to just go shopping at a regular store and spend a couple more dollars to get brand new items. I noticed the clothing available in consignment shops becoming outdated and, unless you were an average medium size, the odds were slim that you were going to find anything to fit you. However, I’ve recently reclaimed my love of consignment shopping and it’s all because of a little place called “Tickled Pink” on Main Street in Wyoming.
This shop has the aura of a fun, classy boutique with rosy furnishings that bring to mind happy thoughts of girly things like cotton candy and bubblegum. A jewelry counter showcases earrings and necklaces, Pandora bracelet beads and rings. Shelves of neatly displayed shoes offer heels, flats and boots. Wooly and warm winter coats have now been slid onto hangers and a wide selection of purses and bags are displayed around the shop.
One of the things that makes the store unique is that the clothing is grouped by color, sending long rainbowed-racks stretching down one wall. Another attraction is that all sizes are catered to, whether you fall above or below the “average” size. Extra large sweaters and shirts are comfortably housed along with jeans bearing a zero on the tag.
In the dressing room, you’ll find an atmosphere a bit different than the bland and empty dressing rooms of most stores. Here, the word “powder room” would be a more accurate description. The room pulses with a soft pink energy and is scattered with a variety of perfumes, body sprays and soaps which beg attention after trying on potentially new pieces of your wardrobe.
There is usually some type of sale going on, but even the regular prices are affordable. Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, Coldwater Creek, L.L. Bean…whether you are seeking something casual and comfortable or something elegant and dressy, there is truly something for everyone.
