COVENTRY — The 34th annual Coventry Teachers Alliance Scholarship Awards night was held at Coventry High School Wednesday night with a full auditorium.

“The goal of these awards is to assist Coventry High School seniors as they move on to their next educational endeavor,” said Suzanne Tracy, the chairwoman of the scholarship committee.

Her goal, along with the committee members, is providing as many scholarships to as many students as possible.

Tracy said the fund has grown to include current and retired Coventry school employees, who contribute through weekly contributions.

Those contributions are matched by contributions made by over 70 community donors, which include local businesses, community members and family members of those currently at the high school.

Rachel Silva, Katie Printer and Robert Beaudoin received $1,000 scholarships in memory of Nancy Sprengelmeyer, Douglas Auger and Denis St. Amand, respectively.

The three recipients explained there is an application and selection process where student write about their classes, activities and any club or sports involvement as well as any previous awards a student has won.
