EAST GREENWICH — Town officials, a former Rhode Island governor and his wife are trying to discuss a resolution regarding back taxes that are owed on an East Greenwich relic that is in the process of being converted into a science center.
According to East Greenwich Tax Assessor Janice Peixinho on Monday, Donald and Sue Carcieri owe approximately $25,000 in back taxes on the Olney House, located on Church Street, and if no resolution is made, the former boys’ dormitory and one of only two buildings left standing from the old East Greenwich Academy, will be put up for tax sale, which is scheduled to occur on June 19.
