Synthetic pot sting busts local store owner

EAST GREENWICH — In conjunction with the Newport police and the Rhode Island Division of Taxation, East Greenwich police arrested a local convenience store owner last Wednesday afternoon for allegedly selling synthetic marijuana from his establishment.
Rakeshkumar R. Patel, 40, of 37 Anne Holst Court, Warwick, was taken into custody by officers, removed from his store – East Greenwich Farm, located at 360 Main St. – in handcuffs and charged with one count of delivery of a controlled substance.
EGPD Det. Sgt. Jon Chirnside, in a phone interview last Thursday morning, stated the department had received several anonymous tips dating back to February regarding suspicious activity at East Greenwich Farm.
