South team splits first season match

April 17, 2014

Senior Mia Bartolotta tees off at Laurel Lane Golf Course on Monday afternoon. The four-year Rebel golfer scored 41 for South in the first match of the 2014 season.

WEST KINGSTON — It wasn’t the sunny spring day that everyone was hoping for, but the rain held off long enough for the South Kingstown golf team to compete in its first RIIL match of the season. The Rebels team of six went up against southern division opponents from North Kingstown and Chariho High School on Monday afternoon at Laurel Lane Golf Course. The teams endured very windy conditions for their first match, which brought an extra element of difficulty to the course. Returning after a successful 2013 season (7-6-1) that qualified the team for the state tournament, South is preparing for a competitive season with hopes of chasing the southern division title.
