SORI has splashing success

High school students run out of Greenwich Bay at Goddard Park State Beach on Saturday during the inaugural Project Unify Plunge, organized by Special Olympics Rhode Island.

Over the weekend, Goddard Park State Beach looked anything but a summer setting.

Ice and snow was scattered in patches across the sand and waters across Greenwich Bay, making the place that is known as a warm-weather attraction seem like a winter wonderland.

But that didn’t stop many residents from around Rhode Island from testing the waters on both Saturday and Sunday.
