SKAS confirmed as emergency animal shelter

Madeline, a 5-year-old abandoned cat, was at the SK Animal Shelter during Hurricane Sandy, officially the last devastating storm that will hit an emergency animal shelter-less South County.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - Following failed initiatives to shelter animals at URI’s Boss Arena during severe weather, the South Kingstown Animal Shelter has taken the final step in becoming an official emergency shelter for pets of all kinds.

The final step that the SK Shelter needed to take was the acquiring of a generator to keep the lights and heat on. That generator has been ordered and is on its way to the shelter now.
