SK Town Council passes preliminary budget

March 19, 2014

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The town council reviewed the preliminary budget on Monday night, considering seven amendments to the nearly $74.9 million budget that the town manager originally presented before ultimately voting unanimously to adopt the $74.9 million amended budget.

The first consideration was on the increased stipend for future town councilors, which was discussed at the last meeting and decided against at some point between then and Monday night. The council did not discuss the decision nor make a motion to increase the annual stipend, which remains at $3,000 for each of the four members and $4,000 for the council president.
