South Kingstown residents Kirsten and Tim O’Neill will run the Boston Marathon this Monday as part of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge Team.

The rigorous training for a marathon is no easy challenge, but the O’Neills have had to overcome an additional hurdle: they are both cancer survivors.

In 2007, Kirsten was diagnosed with cancer. Three months later, her husband, Tim, was diagnosed with leukemia. Kirsten beat cancer and Tim is currently undergoing treatment for leukemia at Dana-Farber.
