Roberts Health Centre turning 30

March 6, 2012

NORTH KINGSTOWN – A staple in the community that has been offering rehabilitation and short and long-term nursing care to area residents, Roberts Healt Centre will be celebrating a milestone next month as it turns 30 years old.
No party is planned and according owner Richard Catallozzi, it’ll be “business as usual”. The Ten Rod Road Centre doesn’t advertise and attributes its success to referrals and word of mouth. The 66-bed facility employs between 85 to 90 staff members and, Catallozzi said, there’s no intention of expanding.
“We want to keep it small and intimate. That’s why we’ve been able to flourish over the past 30 years,” he explained. “We want our residents to feel like they’re at a hotel.”
Employees are constantly reminded of the mission statement to provide the highest quality of care, promote patient and family as the center of care, provide innovative state-of-the-art care and to utilize electronic systems to provide enhanced care capability.
Robert’s recently acquired two raising pads for residents who need to be lifted out of their beds or chairs.
“With 65 percent of our residents over the age of 55, it was imperative that we took advantage of this technology.” Catallozzi said.
The Centre provides residents with services such as skilled respiratory care, wound treatments, intravenous fluids and medication management.
Construction will soon begin on a new 15x30 foot balcony on the second floor to mimic the first floor porch. This will allow residents on the second floor to enjoy the outdoors and have views of the new Wickford Junction Train Station, slated to open in the spring.
“Not only do we offer our residents a variety of medical services, we also want to make them comfortable here,” Catallozzi said. “We encourage them to participate in a variety of activities ranging from music and trips.”
Catallozzi says he hopes the next 30 years will be like the past 30 years: inspiring.
