RISPC approves easements for Deepwater

PROVIDENCE – Deepwater Wind will be allowed to land its transmission cable from the proposed Block Island Wind Farm at Scarborough State Beach.
After more than three hours, the Rhode Island State Properties Committee voted 2-0 with one abstention Wednesday to approve two easement agreements, one with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and one with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, to allow Deepwater to run the cable beneath state property in exchange for a payment of $1.7 million.
