Richmond TC accepts terms for joint meeting

June 19, 2014

RICHMOND — The town council considered a new request from Charlestown to attend the Joint Governing Bodies meeting to discuss the Chariho Act, which was proposed by Chariho School Committee Chairman Bill Day in April. Charlestown had previously declined the invitation to attend the joint meeting but reversed their vote at their last town council meeting when Charlestown school committee representatives asked the town council to reconsider.
Charlestown’s new request included parameters that any proposals placed on the joint meeting agenda be “supported with sufficient written documentation,” which would state the proposer’s rationale and how it would affect and/or benefit regional district, and the required process or procedure. In addition, all materials would be supplied to all parties well in advance of the meeting to provide ample time for review.
