RICHMOND – It's that time of the year again.
And no, it's not the holiday season again or anything remotely fun like that.
Yes, it's that time of the year – when people across the country are filling out their tax forms in hopes of a big return or, in some cases, minimal money owed to the Internal Revenue Service.
While some individuals are scouring the Internet for the best online service, such as Turbo Tax or the IRS's site, others are scribbling their income amounts, taxes, addresses, etc... into physical forms.
Others are frantically setting up appointments with their personal accountant or calling a nearby H&R Block. And, amongst all the madness, some are sitting back calmly, procrastinating like a high school student with a term paper due in a few months.
Some, however, are obviously looking to get their taxes done as soon as possible. And for those of you Richmond residents looking for some additional tax preparation assistance, the town, in conjunction with AARP, has got you covered.
The entities have teamed up to host two free assistance programs at the Richmond Community Center March 7 and April 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This is an appointment-only service, though, so you must call 401-491-9404 to schedule an appointment if you are interested. Also, this is for taxpayers with low- and moderate-income with special attention to those individuals who are age 60 and older.
