WOOD RIVER JUNCTION â€” Chariho Regional School District Superintendent Barry Ricci has been chosen as the 2015 Superintendent of the Year by the Rhode Island School Superintendentsâ€™ Association (RISSA). From this yearâ€™s list of 19 candidates, Ricci was voted number one by RISSAâ€™s 125 members.
Ricci, a former school teacher and principal, started at Chariho as the Assistant Superintendent of Schools in 2001 and became Superintendent in 2005. He received his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Rhode Island College and his Master in Education in Elementary Administration from Providence College. He has received awards as a Rhode Island Principal of the Year, a National Distinguished Principal and a Milken Foundation National Educator.
Giving the credit to his team for their hard work and integrity, Ricci said he was honored to receive RISSAâ€™s top award.
