RI to receive $7 million for emergency preparedness

In an effort to enhance public safety and strengthen Rhode Island’s emergency preparedness, response and recovery initiatives, Rhode Island’s Congressional Delegation and Gov. Lincoln D. Chafee announced earlier this week that the state will receive more than $7 million in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) and the Emergency Management Performance Grant Program (EMPG).
