Residents feeling pinched in Coventry

June 9, 2014

COVENTRY — Residents are red-faced and angry with the no-win financial situation the town is facing for the fiscal year 2015 budget.
With the public meeting and vote just a week away, residents feel stuck facing either higher taxes or severe cuts in schools.

“I just don’t know what to do,” said one resident. “I don’t want to see anyone suffer, whether it be my family or the schools. It feels like a no-win situation to be honest. I don’t know how much more in taxes I can take but I know there are certain programs that kids really need. I’m not sure we need another sports field but we do need specialists to help those students with special needs and most of the residents I know feel the same — people are very concerned.”
