COVENTRY â There is a local effort in town to resurrect the Memorial Day Parade in Coventry and resident Ryan Hall, whose grandfather started the tradition, is taking the initiative to keep it goingâand more importantly, continuing to honor our lost soldiers.
âItâs not only important for me because my grandfather was involved, but it is Memorial Dayâit should be something special,â he said, adding that a barbeque and parade is the perfect way to âkick off the summer.â
The parade began 14 years ago when Hallâs grandfather, Frank Rezendes, took on the challenge. Rezendes was a founding member of the Coventry Veterans Council and at the time, he was serving as the secretary.
âHe definitely enjoyed doing it and put a lot of effort into it,â said Hall.
