Renovations will have to be made to some schools for security

November 22, 2013

HOPKINTON – The Hopkinton Town Council unanimously approved a resolution Monday to present to the Chariho School District pertaining to student and school security.
The councilors were in agreement that the school district should use monies from its current budget to finance necessary school repairs to improve safety, instead of creating an additional line item.
Council Vice President Sylvia Thompson proposed an amendment to the resolution that the school district “shall not use capital funds or accumulated surplus” to finance the necessary improvements. She suggested that the school district look to the general fund for the money for any repairs.
