Reiner resigns as NK Town Planner

August 14, 2014

NORTH KINGSTOWN—On Tuesday afternoon, town manager Michael Embury announced that North Kingstown Town Planner Jon Reiner has resigned from his position. According to the release, the 35 year-old is taking a higher paying planner position in Groton, Conn.
“Since his arrival in June 16, 2005, Jon has demonstrated the highest degree of professionalism in moving North Kingstown forward with its zoning, planning projects, open space acquisition and agricultural preservation,” said Embury in his release. “Jon’s departure leaves a very large hole in the management team that will be hard to fill.”
“We wish him well in his new endeavor,” he added.
The town manager called the offer from the City of Groton one which Reiner ‘would be foolish to turn down.’
On Wednesday, Reiner stated that the decision to become town planner in Groton was difficult, but that the position presents a new and exciting challenge for his career.
