NORTH KINGSTOWN â€“ Aliciaâ€™s Beauty Shop, 7442 Post Road, will conclude its observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month tomorrow with an open house from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The salon, which specializes in wigs, hats, scarves, accessories and counseling for women experiencing hair loss as a result of chemotherapy and other chronic diseases, will host a full day of presentations, product introductions, refreshments and camaraderie.
â€śWe will be offering free consultations, recommendations, advice on wigs, hair cuts and up-dos,â€ť says owner Cathy Leite, who will provide many of the services. She will be aided by cosmetologists Joanne Brouillette and Terri Petrarca.Â
Â â€śWeâ€™re also going to show how to haveÂ beautiful eyebrows [also lost during cancer treatment] with the signature brow kit from Bald Girls DoÂ Lunch. This is a natural-looking,Â professional quality product with staying power to last all day.â€ť
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., cosmetic applications and consultations will be offered by MelanieÂ D. Giordano, an independent beauty consultant for Mary Kay. Darya Prassl, an independent distributor for Nu Skin Enterprises, a company specializing in anti-aging techniques through skin care and nutrition, will demonstrate the Galvanic Spa System from 2-4 p.m. This is a non-invasive face lift treatment that can be completed in five minutes.
