BARRINGTON - The South Kingstown boys tennis team is still the 12-time defending state champs, but for the first time since 2007, the Rebels will have to try to win the title with a loss to their name.
South only picked up wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles in a 5-2 loss to Barrington, the Rebels first loss since 2007, the same year where Barrington went undefeated in the regular season, only to lose to SK in the finals.
Tim Puterio won at No. 1 and the duo of Tim Blais and Ross Bouchard won at No. 1 doubles. SK lost Nos. 2-4 singles in three sets and were swept at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles.
