Public discusses details of Chariho school budget

March 6, 2014

WOOD RIVER JUNCTION — From the podium on the middle school stage, Hopkinton Town Moderator Amy Williams facilitated communications between Chariho residents and the school committee during Tuesday’s annual regional school district meeting, which gave voters an opportunity to ask questions about the 2014-2015 budget, which is $556,000 less than the previous year.

Of the 100 audience members, about 25 came to the microphone to air their questions, which ranged from concerns about staffing cuts at the middle school, especially the loss of one dean, to the timing of the addition of an elementary-level foreign language program to the budget surplus.
