It was a sad week in North Kingstown this past week as a pair of local icons passed away.
Dr. Mirella "Muriel" Emley Camarra, an outspoken public watchdog and advocate for the common man, died Monday at her home at Narrow Lane and, in a story no other local newspaper in Rhode Island has, this week's Standard Times pays tribute to Muriel as friends and families remember her in great detail.
Meanwhile, North Kingstown residents are still busy lamenting the loss of Francis "Frank" Cain, a longtime fixture in the North Kingstown School Department. Standard Times reporter Lindsay Olivier has all the details on the longtime face of tennis in North Kingstown.
If those two stories weren't enough, we've got plenty more this week as we give you an in-depth look at North Kingstown local Melanie Donnelly, a recent participant on this season of American Idol, not to mention a detailed look at the Exeter Job Corps program and an inside look at a proposed mixed-use development coming to NK and East Greenwich.
It's all in this week's Standard Times. Pick up a copy today.
