Pier council denies offer for free trees

April 9, 2014

NARRAGANSETT – The town council denied the South County Garden Club’s offer to provide, at no cost to the town, all trees, shrubs and an irrigation system for Gazebo Park.

The council voted 2-2 Monday, with Councilors Glenna Hagopian and Matthew Mannix opposed, meaning that the motion to approve the offer failed.

Council President James Callaghan was absent.

The original Arborvitae trees in Gazebo Park were planted in 1993, according to Parks and Recreation Director Steve Wright.
