RICHMOND – Over the past few years the economy has seen better days, and the average consumer has less money to spend on their animals.
Carol Terranova and her friends saw this becoming a recurring scenario and decided it was time they did something about it, and so was born “Maggies Pet Pantry.”
Located at 51 Buttonwoods Road, Richmond, near the public works garage and animal control, the pet pantry is a food bank for local Rhode Island citizens who are in need of assistance feeding and maintaining their pets. It will be open year round and completely funded by volunteers and donations.
It is open on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to noon.
If you are looking to donate and are unable to make it during those times you can drop off donations at Doggie Depot, Incredible Threads, Hope Valley Post Office, and Crandall House in Ashaway.
Also, if you need assistance or other information such as volunteer information you can reach the pantry via its e-mail, Maggieprov129@cox.net.
