n Exeter-West Greenwich Senior High School was recently recognized by The Rhode Island Student Loan Authority for its “commitment to financial literacy.”
RISLA Manager William Bianchi recently presented the “Financial Literacy Curriculum Leadership Award” to Timothy McCardle, a guidance counselor at the school. As part of the award, all students from Exeter-West Greenwich Senior High School who are approved this year for a deferred-payment Rhode Island Family Education Loan from RISLA will automatically have the four-percent origination fee waived. This fee waiver aims to reward students who have acquired financial responsibility through a financial literacy program. With increased financial knowledge, students are more likely to borrow responsibly for their college education and are less likely to overburden themselves with debt.
