WOOD RIVER JCT. â With the season winding down, the team healthy and the play starting to get back to championship form, Prout girls volleyball coach Dan Greene was hoping the Crusaders could carry their play over from the previous week into Tuesdayâs match at Chariho.
But while the sweep of the Chargers might have looked easy, it wasnât a step in the direction the coach was looking for.
Prout had simply too much talent for Chariho, which also didnât play its best volleyball, as Brooke Sullivan played her best match of the season in the middle and the Crusaders won, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19, but the team was none too happy with how things went Tuesday night.
âWe lacked intensity that game. Right now itâs not what we need to do,â said Prout setter Elise Walsh, who finished with 32 assists in the win. âItâs not what weâre looking for to win the championship.â
