Not pretty, but it's a win for Prout volleyball

October 21, 2010

Elise Walsh and the Prout girls volleyball team didn't play its best Tuesday, but came away with a win at Chariho.

WOOD RIVER JCT. – With the season winding down, the team healthy and the play starting to get back to championship form, Prout girls volleyball coach Dan Greene was hoping the Crusaders could carry their play over from the previous week into Tuesday’s match at Chariho.
But while the sweep of the Chargers might have looked easy, it wasn’t a step in the direction the coach was looking for.
Prout had simply too much talent for Chariho, which also didn’t play its best volleyball, as Brooke Sullivan played her best match of the season in the middle and the Crusaders won, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19, but the team was none too happy with how things went Tuesday night.
“We lacked intensity that game. Right now it’s not what we need to do,” said Prout setter Elise Walsh, who finished with 32 assists in the win. “It’s not what we’re looking for to win the championship.”
