NK man killed in motorcycle accident

NORTH STONINGTON, Conn.—Brandon Burns, 24, a North Kingstown native was killed this past Sunday evening after his motorcycle veered into oncoming traffic on Route 201 in North Stonington, Conn.

According to Connecticut State Police, Burns swerved into the opposite lane and struck a 2003 Dodge Ram, driven by Alcides R. Silva of Norwich, Conn.
Burns was separated from his 2013 Ducati M79 motorcycle at approximately 7:16 p.m., but passed away at the scene. Silva was transported to Backus Hospital in Norwich and released after treatment.
Connecticut State Police state that the accident remains under investigation and Burns’ next of kin have been notified. Burns’ father, Robert, works as a teaching assistant at Quidnesset Elementary School.
On Tuesday evening, the North Kingstown School Committee held a moment of silence for Burns, who was a 2007 graduate and track and field standout at North Kingstown High School.
