CHARLESTOWN — At its Monday night meeting, the town council enacted a new policy to begin charging for large public records requests.
Because of The Access to Public Records Act (APRA), the public may “gain access to information amassed through the years by their cities and towns,” according to the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns.
The state also allows towns to charge a maximum rate of 15 cents per page and $15 per hour for such requests.
