Narragansett woman arrested for elderly exploitation, abuse

April 23, 2011

NARRAGANSETT– Officers executed a search warrant at 144 South Pier Road Wednesday morning in relation to an arrest warrant for Tracy Anderson, 44, for the abuse and exploitation of an elderly person with severe handicaps. NPD also obtained various documents and a combination safe during their search.

Anderson was arrested by NPD on a traffic stop shortly thereafter along with passenger Edwin Encarnacion, 50, who also had an active hold without bail court warrant. She is an employee of Senior Helpers and was assigned to care for the victim, performing daily task such as bathing the victim and cooking for her. Anderson neglected these duties.
Anderson had taken money on several occasions from the victim. She coerced the victim into making bank transactions and revealing her ATM personal identification number. Anderson also had forced the victim into changing her Life insurance policy so that Anderson would be the primary beneficiary.

The victim described Anderson as ‘demanding and pushy,’ and frequently felt intimated. She feared that Anderson would stop caring for her if she did not meet her demands.

Marijuana and paraphernalia, packaging materials and a digital scale, were also found during NPD’s search at 144 South Pier Road. Christopher Anderson, 23, was arrested for marijuana possession on the scene and both Tracy and Christopher Anderson were transported to Fourth District court, where they were arraigned.

Tracy Anderson was released on $10,000 bail with surety. She is also scheduled for a screening date of May 31. Anderson was released on the condition of a no contact order with the victim, a waiver of extradition and no employment with senior citizens.

Cristopher Anderson was held without bail and taken to the Intake Service Center of the Adult Correctional Institution for violating his probation. Anderson will remain held until his status date of April 27.
