Narragansett Town Council approves increases in fines associated with public behavior

NARRAGANSETT – The town council unanimously approved an increase in fines Monday for such offenses as disturbing the peace, urinating or defecating in public, and public consumption of alcohol.

Town Manger Pamela Nolan indicated to the council that the proposed increase in fines is meant to deter the “unwelcomed behavior that is often associated with parties.”

The fines have been adjusted as follows:

Disturbing the peace – previously a $100, changed to a $200 minimum fine with a $500 maximum fine.
