Narragansett schools on track for Common Core

March 28, 2014

NARRAGANSETT – Narragansett schools are on track and committed to implementing the Common Core State Standards.

Two Common Core ambassadors presented the standards to parents and families of Narragansett students at the elementary school Wednesday and answered questions to allay parents’ concerns regarding the new standards.

Ambassador Jaime Crowley, principal of Thompson Middle School in Newport, said he views the Common Core standards as “good standards for kids,” noting that there is rationale behind the standards to ensure that students are ready for college and careers as 60 percent of all jobs will require at least some college by 2018.
