NORTH KINGSTOWN–Once a college professor in Narragansett, Sr. Una O’Connor, C.P. has used the teaching skills she learned in Rhode Island to develop the Catholic College of Mandeville, a teaching school in Jamaica.

O’Connor, a vowed member of the Sisters of the Cross and Passion, a Catholic religious community came to the United States from Ireland in 1960 to teach sisters at Mount St. Joseph College in Narragansett. From 1969 to 1976, she continued to teach at Tower Hill Road school, which opened to the public, but eventually closed due to low enrollment. For more information, pick up the Narragansett Times.
