More parents, doctors favor later start time for school

April 10, 2014

EAST GREENWICH — A few more parents and local residents voiced their support of having later start times at both Cole Middle School and East Greenwich High School toward the members of the East Greenwich School Committee back on April 1.

This discussion during the public comment portion of the meeting followed up the previous one initially brought forth by Rebecca Bliss, stating that adolescents who gain an extra hour’s sleep during the school week will help them improve in the educational setting, in athletics and their choices in life by avoiding drugs and alcohol, according to various independent studies the parents cited.
