Missing teen's family speaks as they search

August 28, 2014

WEST WARWICK— Stocked with plenty of water and snacks, the family of Khia Lake spent their day searching at a playground on Potowomut Road in Warwick, near Goddard Park, for the 14-year-old who has been missing for one week. Mother, aunt and grandmother of Lake posted flyers of Lake’s description and photo around the same place she was found the first time she went missing.

Serenity said her daughter’s illness may have triggered her decision to leave home and hopes that this wasn’t the case because they have never seen Lake off her medication. Most recently, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has contacted West Warwick Police, according to Serenity, and will be coming to her home later on in the day.

Lake is 5-foot-3, weighs about 120 pounds, and has a fair complexion, dark brown, shoulder-length hair, and a lip ring on her lower-right lip. She was last seen wearing a black v-neck tank top and black shorts with the word “dancer” on the back.

Anyone with knowledge of Lake’s whereabouts is asked to contact the West Warwick Police Department at (401) 821-4323.
