WOOD RIVER JCT. - The recently controversial topic of the Chariho Regional School District administration's use of “locator cards” to verify home-schooled students continued at the school board's Oct. 26 meeting.
This matter, which has apparently been brought up in the past, came to a head when parents who use home instruction attended a School Committee meeting in September.
They argued against the administration's decision to use locator cards to verify residency. If a locator card isn't submitted, the district will send an attendance officer to the home to ensure the student indeed lives at the provided address.
