WOOD RIVER JCT. â Monday, June 20 was not only the last day of spring, it was the last day of school for the students of Chariho Middle School.
As the buses drove off the school grounds filled with students for the last time until September, a large group of teachers and staff gave them a final farewell.
In what has become known as the annual âFinal Waveâ event at the middle school, the teachers and staff members line the road leading out of the school to wave at the students passing by. The students, in turn, yelled to the teachers from the bus windows and waved to them goodbye as well.
The bus drivers honked their horns wildly as they passed the crowd. The energy was high and so were the spirits of an entire school community now looking forward to a relaxing summer.
According to teacher assistant Kathy Anderson, âthe appreciation from the students yelling out the bus windows, bus drivers beeping their horns, and the smiles and laughter from the teachers and staff knowing they have played an important role through the year, and made such a difference, makes the end of the school year complete.âView more articles in:
