Local theater closer to taking center stage

July 9, 2012

EAST GREENWICH — For theater goers throughout the town, they will have to wait just a bit longer to see the curtain rise at the Greenwich Odeum Theater.

Odeum president Frank Prosnitz addressed the Council last Monday on the status as to how the renovations are going with the historic performing arts center on Main Street and that the project fell a little bit behind schedule for various reasons.

Prosnitz, who was hoping to have the grand re-opening for the Odeum back on May 26 – which would’ve marked the 75th anniversary of the Odeum’s original opening – said that the contractor in charge of the project fell ill recently, but returned to full health and hopes to have the theater up and running within the next several weeks.
