Lawyers critical of town excavation ordinance

CHARLESTOWN — Several lawyers representing Charlestown quarries criticized the town council’s updated proposed excavation ordinance on Monday night during a second public hearing that had been continued from March 10.

Before discussing the ordinance, Town Council President Thomas Gentz presented a new resolution asking the General Assembly for an amendment that would give the town the authority to regulate quarry operations under its police power.
