COVENTRY— The long-awaited capping process for the Coventry landfill is beginning this coming week with the clearing of brush and cutting of trees on the estimated 10-acre piece of land that was closed as a functioning landfill in 1975.
The project as a whole involves the capping, shaping, and grading of the old landfill in order to divert rainfall that would otherwise pool atop which poses a risk of contaminated water which could penetrate and pollute groundwater with potentially dangerous contaminants.
