SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The Welcome House of South County is without an executive director for the third time in 10 months.
Ken Burke, president of the Welcome House’s Board of Directors, said Monday that after a 90-day contract the board and Interim Executive Director Karen Murphy mutually agreed to part ways.
Murphy came to the Welcome House in June after Ken Mayer vacated his position the same week he was scheduled to begin work at the shelter. Mayer was hired to replace Linda Barden, who left the shelter in January following a vote by the board. Barden had worked at the Welcome House since 1997.
