Waves strike Black Point as Hurricane Irene makes its way inland.

Hurricane Irene has hit Narragansett and the southern Rhode Island coast as a tropical storm as of 9 a.m. Giant waves struck exposed, low-lying areas such as Black Point, and Scarborough State Beach is entirely inaccessible.
