Highland Farm’s “Trails to Terror” construction complete

September 3, 2014

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - The annual tradition of pulling a group of terrified children, teenagers and adults in an open wagon through a horror movie-like set complete with actors in professional makeup continues this year in South Kingstown with Highland Farms’ Trails to Terror.
Construction on the haunted hayride and walk-through was officially completed over the weekend. This year’s hayride theme is “The Farm of Dr. Moreau”, a tribute to H.G. Wells’ “The Island of Doctor Moreau”, a science fiction novel in which a doctor creates human-like beings from the animals inhabiting his island through a process of dissecting them while they are still alive.
“Scary” Larry Wilhem, a creative writer and horror enthusiast who joined the Trails of Terror program during its fourth season, walked The Narragansett Times through the entire hayride and walk-through set - a place much more comfortable during the day and without a team of actors whose only job is to scare.
